What is "withdraw from PhD"?

I am a PhD student about to finish but I still need a few months to complete my work and thesis. At the end of Dec 2018 I run out of funding from my university, where I was employed (was not a recepient of any scholarships). I have signed a contract to this effect that my employment with university will be terminated on this date.
I read that I am eligible for A Kassa benefits if I am done with my thesis or if I withdraw from PhD studies completely. What does "withdraw from my PhD studies" mean? If I am not being paid by the university, but looking for a job to support myself, does that mean I have withdrawn from my PhD studies?

Thanks for your question. I am sorry to disappoint you, but in order to count as unemployed you have to quit your studies all together.
This means that a-kassan can't help you financially while finishing your thesis.
I wish you luck in finding a job that can take you through the last months of studying.
