Company is closing during parental leave

Hi,
My parental leave will start in June 2026, but meanwhile we were informed that my company where I work can close down. I don't have any information when this will happen, probably in a few months. My question is: When should/can I start my unemployment compensation? Is it OK if I start with the compensation after I finish with my parental leave (that will be after a year), or I have to do it at the moment when I became unemployed?

    Yes, it's fully ok to wait with applying for unemployment benefits til after you have finished your parental leave. There is no need to apply when you become unemployed as long as you are on full parental leave.

    Your benefits will be calculated on the last year of actual work, that is the year before you started your parental leave.
