Receiving benefits after completing PhD studies - non EU citizen
Hi!
I've been a member of A-Kassa for a few years now and I'm entering the last year of my doctoral studies. I am wondering if by the end of my studies I will be able to apply for unemployment benefits while I am waiting for my residence permit to get renewed (whether that is a looking for work permit or permanent one) since I am a non EU citizen and need to apply for a permit to remain in Sweden.

To be able to register with Arbetsförmedlingen and receive unemployment benefits one needs to have a valif work permit in Sweden. You need to check with Migrationsverket wheter you have the right to work in Sweden while waiting for you residence permit to get renewed.
